WEEK FEB 23th

This week, we continued working on the project we started previously, but with a technical variation. Instead of using egg yolk as a binder, we created a new painting using latex with the same pigments. This change in materials allowed us to compare how different substances affect the texture, drying time, and finish of the paint. It was an interesting way to see how the medium changes the final result of the artwork. Here is my second piece:

This week, our task was to recreate Van Gogh’s Sunflowers using a traditional painting technique. To do this, we prepared our own paint using an egg based binder and primary color pigments. The process began by separating the egg yolk from the white. Then, we placed small amounts of each pigment into separate containers. To achieve colors beyond the primary palette, we had to mix the pigments until we reached the desired shades. Once the paint was ready, we proceeded to draw and paint our own version of the famous still life. Here is my final piece:

WEEK FEB 9th

This week, we participated in a sensory activity where we listened to a song selected by our teacher for ten minutes. The goal was to draw whatever feelings or images came to mind while listening to the music. At first, the melody made me feel very calm; I imagined a quiet beach at night during the summer, as if I were sitting by the shore listening to the soft waves. However, as the song progressed and became more energetic, my thoughts shifted toward fireworks, as if there were a celebration taking place near the sea. This drawing is the result of that transition from peace to energy: Following our initial drawing, we moved on to a second stage where we had to create an abstract piece inside a plastic sleeve (punched pocket). This allowed us to experiment with different textures and layers in a more spontaneous way. This was the final result of the activity:

WEEK FEB 2nd

Following up on last week's activity, we continued practicing our observational drawing skills. On Tuesday, my classmate Silvia took the role of the model, and later in the week, it was my turn to be drawn by my peers. The goal was to follow the same process we established previously: starting with the articulation points, connecting them to form the body’s structure, and finally adding the final details. This experience was particularly interesting because it allowed me to see the exercise from two different perspectives, both as the artist and as the subject of the drawing.

WEEK JAN 26th

During our first week, we started with an activity to improve our observation skills. We organized ourselves into groups of five, and one person from each group acted as a model. In my group, our classmate Rocío was the model for our first drawing practice. The drawing process followed three main steps: ·Step 1: We began by marking the articulation points (joints) of the body. ·Step 2: We connected those points to create the silhouette, focusing on the proportions of the torso and limbs. ·Step 3: Finally, we combined everything to add more details, like hair and facial features. This approach was very helpful because it taught us to understand the body's structure before worrying about the smaller aesthetic details.

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to my portfolio for the Artistic Creation and Research Workshop. My name is Adriana Nicolás Sánchez, I am 19 years old, and I am studying to become a primary chool teacher. Over the next few months, I will use this space to keep track of all the different activities and projects we do in this class. I did not want this portfolio to be just a pile of finished homework, so I have decided to write it like a reflective diary. This means it is a place for me to look back at my work, think about how I am changing, and really understand what I am learning along the way. Before starting this class, when I thought of art, I usually just pictured drawing, painting, or making simple crafts. However, my view is already changing after the first few days. I am starting to see that making art and researching can go hand in hand, and that art is not just about making things look pretty, but also a way to solve problems, ask questions, and share feelings. As a future teacher, I want to learn ho...
